Start of the first ever Motocross / Supercross event - The Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas

Written by Amanda Thursday, 13 October 2011 23:59

What is this race? Motocross? Supercross? Both? Neither?

Actually, who cares? It's incredibly exciting because it's got the top guys in the sport racing this Saturday night in Las Vegas in a unique format. Unique for two main reasons - It's a track design that is being billed as a 'hybrid motocross / supercross' track, and, it's three 10 lap main events! Very unique!

And oh yeah ... how about the Monster Million Dollars on the line for any rider that can win all three main events? Biggest purse money in the sport as far I know. This event is going to be great!!

Below - a little video on the Thursday Press Conference of the Monster Energy Cup. And, here's the link to Supercross.com's feature article from Thursday with photos of the riders, track, and more.

I'm going to the Motocross of Nations in France - follow along with me

Written by Amanda Wednesday, 07 September 2011 09:01

Sometimes, it's great to be me. I say that a bit "tongue-in-cheek", because It's not so much anything that I've done or am, I'm just a very lucky and blessed person! I have a great family, a great husband, great friends, and more.

In regards to Supercross.com, and the sport of motorcycling, I'm very lucky, and very blessed. And in less than two weeks, I be leaving California the biggest motocross race of the year - the Motocross of Nations, in France!

I'm starting to get excited about it. After all, it is the biggest MX event of the year! And info is starting to come in, like Team USA has been announced. In fact, all the teams, what class they will be racing (MX1, MX2, Open), their riding numbers, and more just came in today. (Read more here.)

The 2011 Motocross of Nations is going to be at St. Jean d'Angely, France. Team USA is the defending champion. Team USA will be Ryan Villopoto (AMA Supercross Champion and current leader of the 'Motocross' class in AMA MX), Ryan Dungey (2010 AMA Supercross Series champion, 2010 AMA Motocross champion) and Blake Baggett (has most victories in 2011 AMA 250 MX Lites class). The USA Team Manager is The Man, Roger De Coster.

St. Jean d'Angely in 2008. I arrived on time. And FedEx helped my phone to arrive two days later.

"Nations" is the one time a year when riders compete for their country. It's often called 'The Olympics of Motocross'. It's also one time a year when riders from 'both sides of the pond', or different series, or that normally race in different classes, get to race head to head against each other. Like USA's Ryan Villopoto vs. Italy's Tony Cairoli. Blake Baggett (USA) vs. Ken Roczen of Germany. UK's Tommy Searle vs. Frenchman Steven Frossard.

Flashback: 2007 Motocross of Nations

Written by Amanda Friday, 19 August 2011 17:16

It's coming. The 2011 Motocross of Nations. France. The biggest MX race in the world. This year it's September 17 and 18, in St. Jean d'Angely.

You can watch Team USA (AMA Supercross Champion) Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey (2010 AMA Motocross and Supercross Champion) and Blake Baggett (most wins in AMA 250 MX Lites class this season) defend their title against the best riders in the world, here on Supercross.com.

Check out the official entry list, countries, riders, numbers, and classes.

And here is our video recap of the 2007 MX of Nations. The quality of the video is not so great - we were still learning about compression and all that video / Internet stuff. But who remembers 2007 at Budds Creek?

USA won. Ryan Villopoto dominated - on a 250! That was exciting ... although our video was less than stellar. It was one of my first times on camera, and then I lost my voice so Lex had to do the voice over. Sorry Lex! (Lex, your voice over is awful!) Ricky Carmichael and Tim Ferry were Ryan's teammates that weekend.

Watch Motocross of Nations here on Supercross.com, and get The Fox Pack!

And I'll have more flashbacks on Nations for you in the next few days.

Amanda walks thru X Fest at X Games 17 Los Angeles

Written by Amanda Saturday, 30 July 2011 15:49

Hi Friends! I'm lucky enough to be at X Games 17 in Los Angeles, courtesy of the nice folks from ESPN. If you've never been to an X Games, you need to give it a try. There is a reason why it's four days!

X Games is four days of non-stop action and activity. Today is Saturday - Day 3. While the action inside the Staples Center will focus on Women's MX / Supercross and Speed & Style ... I took a quick walk outside to get a glimpse of X Fest, and all the people walking around in the great weather.

X Games 17 is something you have to experience at least once in your life. Here is a (literally) quick look at X Fest
