In Texas there was no question about the speed of Ryan Dungey. Unfortunately there was some question in regards to how much fuel to run and it cost Dungey once again. I remember back in 2001 all the new Yamaha 250F's were blowing motors all afternoon. It was as hot as hell that day and there was speak of fuel boiling over and some  opposite effects so who knows. We do know that Chad Reed was in place to benefit and I think there will be some guys who plan on changing things this weekend.

Supercross season is underway! The gates finally dropped Saturday night in Anaheim and the racing did not disappoint! Both classes provided a lot of excitement! While it is still early, Saturday’s Supercross did provide a glimpse into how the 2011 season will shape up. Here are five things we learned Saturday in Anaheim:

Supercross 2011 is finally here! It has been a long and event-filled off-season. “The Man” left a 15 year relationship with Suzuki and went to KTM, who will try to increase their American presence in 2011. As part of that effort they signed Andrew Short, who left the American Honda team. Rockstar Makita Suzuki added 2010’s second place finisher in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Brett Metcalfe, to go alongside the 2010 champ of both Supercross and Motocross, Ryan Dungey. Josh Grant took Short’s place at Honda. Davi Milsaps took Grant’s place with JGR. Trey Canard moved up from the 250 class to ride with Honda. Jake Weimer signed a deal with Kawasaki and then broke his arm in practice. James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto will be back from injuries. Chad Reed started his own team. Christophe Pourcel has yet to sign a deal and the Supercross class will more than likely be without one of the world’s top riders. It is shaping up to be quite the 2011 Supercross season! So what can you expect when the gates drop Saturday night at A-1? Here are my top five things to look for:

The Story of My Life

Cover from Social Distortion's self-titled third albumYes, I stole the title directly from Social Distortion's hit song. But I have a really good reason. I saw them once and the guy goes, "This next song is all about being a day late and a dollar short - which has always been the story of my life!" So, again, my poor little column is a day late. I have a laundry list of excuses, none of which appease anyone. So, why not move from the story of my life to the thing occupying my thoughts on a regular basis?

Sheet music for I have been watching an outdoor race every day for a while now and, I must confess, that I am ready for the madness to end. I love the outdoor MX season. It is definitely my favorite part of the racing season. But I am ready to see some live racing! A-1 is so close I can feel the roost smacking me in the face. My ears are already ringing from the sound of all those awesome bikes red-lining just before the gates drop. The countdown is on. There is only 85 1/2 hours left!

Be looking for the first of the "Five Things to Look For" articles tomorrow! And I'll see you at the races!
