It has been a while since I pounded the old keyboard so I thought why not. As we know the end of summer brings some annual events around more exactly silly season and the X Games. I myself was not very impressed this year and after the results with Grant and Stewert I think the motorcycle side of the star power will drop. As for the silly season it is just kicking off and there is not much to report, but what there is we will get to in a minute. And for everything it will just mix on as we go. First congrats to Josh Hansen. Josh found that magic in a bottle and pulled off another impressive win. Now other than Grant and Brayton the competition was only average at best, but props none the less. Now I know some of you are saying what about K-Dub? Well the fact is he look like he just came off his couch and other than a quick start he had nothing for Hansen. Do I think that is the same Kevin as when the Supercross series rolls around, no however this weekend he was average? The Supermoto was the best race of the weekend by far. I was glad to see them dump the heavy jump sections and something more resembling a proper SM track equaling to a great finish. Now to the rest of X. I don't personally watch any of the skate or bike stuff other than the big air and best trick. The step up was pretty crazy, but as in the past it the ending was a bit of a let down. Best trick was pretty lame this year other than watching some guy almost pull off a front flip and TP almost breaking himself in half. The winner by lame default was a guy named Kyle Loza and although his trick was cool, it was performed to win last year. I thought the Indian Air Back was better, but I never hold my breath when it comes to judging. Of course the big news was Josh Grants crash and soon to be known outcome and James Stewert's withdraw after injuring his shoulder in Supermoto practice. After riding my fare share of Supermoto I knew something like this was going to happen and it did, too bad. It sounds like things are minor, so hopefully James is healthy enough to still head down under for his arch rivals series in the fall. From the sounds of things there may be some good racing on the horizon and a few names that may surprise you showing up. As for silly season there is not much to say. JGR is rumored to be in talks with a few guys, mainly Justin Brayton. Honda has Millsaps and Shorty locked up so where IT lands is u pin the air. Chad Reed has made recent comments regarding driving cars again and vows this time to ride for some salary. Suzuki has it's sights set on re-signed Dungey for the big bikes and his rival Christophe Pourcel sounds like he is happy where he is at, for another year at least. As far as RV he is locked up and guys like Mike Alessi have been rumored for a blue ride. Anyone else at this point will have to wait until these few make their decisions before anything will be trickled down. For the news on the other side of the pond, KTM has made a big announcement to Bring Antonio Cairoli on with Decarli as the new Factory Team partnered with Max Nagl and Rui Goncalves. Clemente Desalle announced today he is ending his privateer Honda ride and plans to announce his plans for 2010 real soon. Suzuki sounds like there plans are coming soon and for Yamaha and Honda a lot are holding their breath waiting to see what happens. Current MX2 point’s leader Marvin Musquin stays with KTM as well as for sure contender and current Teka Suzuki rider Ken Rockzen. Same thing goes for the rest of the guys out there waiting to see what happens, but a bit more on a team level since the team pays for the seat in the series, not the rider. The final stretch of both the world and US series will come to a end in the next month and half and bring us to the Des Nations. In the US Reed seems to be in control of the big bikes, while Dungey and Pourcel sit tied in points ready for a battle to the end. On the world stage Musquin looks in control as well as Antonio Cairoli looking to mark his name in the books next to the greats. I will finish with a small comparison of ages. I noticed Mark Martin being praise for his accomplishments at his age, but compared to Jeff Ward and Jeremy McGrath he is nothing. It is amazing to see Wardy and MC still out there contending, not just riding around. It really is amazing!
