Justin Brayton - King of Paris Bercy Supercross 2009

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrint

Sunday, November 1, Paris - Justin Brayton is the 'King of Bercy', thanks to his consistency during the three night's of racing at the world famous French Supercross.

This weekend concluded the 27th edition of the Bercy Supercross. And Brayton, riding for the Joe Gibbs Racing Yamaha team, puts his name on the mantle with previous winners of this prestigous event. Names like McGrath, Stewart, ... Johnson, Bailey ... and so many others in the supercross world.

Everyone was expecting another triumph from a past King of Bercy AMA Supercross Series Champion James Stewart. But what happened to the American racer? James did not race the final main event of Sunday's program, as he felt faint just before the start, and did not compete.

It was a bit strange ... Stewart had won the previous two nights of racing, and seemed set to capture a repeat of his 2008 'King of Bercy'. The information came into the arena that he was in the first aid room, and would not compete in the final race.

Then his L & M Yamaha team-mate Josh Hill got the hole-shot ... and he would go on to win the main! Greg Aranda finshed second in the main event, followed by another French rider, MX2 World Motocross Champion Marvin Musquin.

Brayon would go on to finish the main event in fifth position ... and the title King of Bercy 2009 was still being calculated! After all the points were totaled, Justin Brayton beats out James Stewart by one point for the 2009 King of Bercy Supercross title!
