Round 10 of the FIM World Motocross Series in Latvia! Last week saw Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev, racing for World Honda Motocross, win his first ever MX GP in the MX1 class. KTM's World MX 1 Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli extended his series points lead. KTM's Ken Roczen, who is the leading the MX2 class series points, also won his home Grand Prix last week in Germany. A beautfiul circuit in Latvia - it's set in the deep forest, great sandy dirt, well prepared race track, and the surrounding scenery is outstanding. Today was overcast, but warm. Perfect venue and day for racing motocross.

In the MX2 Qualifying Race, it was KTM Red Bull Teka's Ken Roczen on top. And he always does it with a smile. Ken leads the series point standings, and rides with the red plated number 94 machine. Second to Ken in the Qualifying Race, teammate Jeffrey Herlings. Third today was Yamaha's Gautier Paulin. The nationalities of those top three - German, Dutch, and French.

Ken Roczen said in the press conference afterwards that the track did become rough, and even in a 20 minute plus two lap Qualifier like today, he was trying to conserve energy because he knows tomorrow will be very physically demanding in two 40 minute motos.

In the MX1 Qualifying Race, KTM Red Bull Teka's World Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli was the winner. Clement Desalle was the early leader, and Tony and Clement put on a good battle at the front. A bar-banging battle. Great for the spectators. As the track started to get rougher, Tony made the pass stick on Clement, and Tony rode on to victory. Clement Desalle finished second. Third was Steven Frossard. The nationalities of the top three in MX 1 - Italian, Belgian, and French.

Former World MX2 Champion Christophe Pourcel is not racing in Latvia. He and his Kawasaki CLS team decided that in order to work on the bike settings, it's best that Christophe sit out this round, test in a more private area, and come back strong for the next GP - Lommel, Belgium at the demanding sand track there, the first Sunday in August.
