Round 9 of the FIM World Motocross Series, Germany. In MX1 Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev, racing for World Honda Motocross, has won his first ever MX GP, sweeping both motos! KTM's World MX 1 Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli, who is the series points leader, finished second overall and extends series points lead. KTM's Ken Roczen, who is the leading the MX2 class series points, also won his home Grand Prix today. Second in MX2 went to the ever improving Gautier Paulin.
First new - the German Team rders were announced for the upcoming Motocross of Nations in France: Max Nagl in MX1, Ken Roczen in MX2, and Marcus Schiffer in Open.
Second - over 40,000 fans were on hand today for this GP - very impressive.
In the MX2 class, look at the results and see how close the top four were in scoring. Very close! Ken Roczen's first and third in the two motos takes top position on the podium, and Ken also extends his series points lead. Gautier Paulin finishes second overall, followed by Tommy Searle, Jeffrey Herlings, Arnaud Tonus and American Zach Osborne.
Courtesy KTM, Ken Roczen said: Yesterday was good and today was even better. I won the first race and I got the holeshot in the second. Then I crashed in the first lap, I was back at 16th and it's hard to pass on this circuit. I managed to come back to third and won the overall so I could make a bigger gap in the points to Jeffrey.
In the MX1 class, the very likeable Russian Evgeny Bobryshev won his first ever MX GP, and he did it in style, winning both motos! And the super smart Tony Cairoli, the defending World Motocross Champion, finished second overall (2/2), but even without being on the top step of the podium, Tony extends his series points lead! And putting in a valiant ride today - Clement Desalle to finish third overall. In his return to GP racing, Christophe Pourcel was officially scored as 32nd, with no points, although DNF both motos.
Next weekend is the MX Grand Prix of Latvia.
