Round 9 of the FIM World Motocross Series in Germany! Today is Saturday's Qualifying races for both MX1 and MX2. KTM's World MX 1 Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli is the series points leader in that class, and KTM's Ken Roczen is the leader of the MX2 class.
For both Kenny Roczen and Max Nagl, this is their 'home' MX GP. Saturday's Qualifying Races for starting positions in tomorrow's Grand Prix are 20 minutes plus two laps.
In the MX1 class, defending World MX 1 Champion Tony Cairoli, who is also leading the 2011 point standings, seems to be hitting his stride at just the right point in the season, as he won today's Qualifying race. And Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev is finding good form as well, finishing in the runner-up position. On another note, French rider Christophe Pourcel, who has won east regional supercross championships in the USA, and is a former MX2 World Motocross Champion, riding a Kawasaki, made his return to GP racing, finishing sixth. Belgian Clement Desalle, second in the MX1 points behind Cairoli, is still dealing with a shoulder injury, along with an injury to his left hand.
In the MX2 class, the top riders in the series finished in the top positions in Qualifying! 1, 2, 3, 4! Series points leader Ken Roczen from Germany won, Jeffrey Herlings from the Netherlands was second, Tommy Searle from England was third, and Gautier Paulin from France was fourth!
Nice crowd on hand, especially for a Saturday. The Grand Prix is tomorrow!
