The guy is being sarcastic obviously. However, IMO James, RC, or Reed could have been on any good team since the start of their pro career and they still would have came out as the three best guys. If Dungey doesn't specifically have DeCoster and then later on RC, and then later on , Goose, he isn't having the same last two years.

Sam you have absolutly no idea what you are talking about.

Dungey is one of the hardest workers out there, bike and fittness wise. He will work circles around everyone over the past ten years except Carmichael.
He is a better test rider then anyone out there right now. He won 2 title without Goose, how did that happen? He would have won the same titles this year without him but his old mechanic took a different step in the company.

Dungey is extremely inteligent and a very hard worker, that is why he won, not the so called magic of DeCoster.

Exactly DMG. What SamIwas doesn't seem to get is that there is actually someone else out there who has the desire, want, heart, and drive to become the next multiple Champion in SX and Outdoors. If Dungey can keep it together for next year as he did during SX and Outdoor this year we could see him winning multiple SX and outdoors. I personally would like to see that. However there are still loads of other up and coming talent from the graduating Lites class who could give him a possible run. It is too hard to predict this soon but it sure as hell looks like its going to be one hell of an upcoming SX season.

SamIwas has never been on a bike. He has never worked his tail off for weeks so he could get a top 9 at the area qualifier and make it to LL's. He's never watched it all go up in smoke because something on the bike decided to tear up that day. He's never had that insane feeling in the pit of his stomach when the board turns sideways and all that work flashes through your mind while your vision narrows to the line in front of you. It's hard to appreciate a guy like Dungey who puts the work in week in and week out and has the results show up on the track. How can you if you've never experienced how hard it is to accomplish?

If youre young enough and can swing it, contact people like Dirtworx, Feld and even the AMA and tell all of them youll be their gofor for free for a few rounds. If someone takes you up on it, while your there, do your best at networking, introduce yourself and make small talk. But remember one thing, they are there to do a job and they dont care to make small talk most of the time. When that happens move on, but be nice about it.

Getting a job in this industry is alot of foot work if you dont know someone. Remember, it is a job and its serious business.

Cairoli is certainly the fastest in Europe. Of course you always wonder how Cairoli would do against each of the Americans in their prime.
I agree about RJ. He had his time in the late 1980's where nobody in the world could touch him. It's a shame that some of the younger fans on this board didn't get to whitness RJ in his prime...back when men were men, tracks were tough, and riders did whatever it took to win. I have RJ in my top three best of all time in both supercross and motocross.

I want to see the best riders in the world out there and Andrew Short isn't one of them.

Ok I know I am a little late in this thread but this is funny to me. If you do not think Short is one of the best riders in the world and that he chokes all the time then explain to me why he number 3 in the AMA Motocross national points? Now to me it seems that if you are even on the same track as these guys you ARE one of the best riders in the world let alone place more often than not in the top 5. What do you think just any knucklehead off the street can come in, suit up, moto and place in the top 5? If so you are seriously flawed in your perception of a world class professional motocross rider. As I have stated before Short was picked over Stewie because he was the best choice at the time. We now see that stewie can't run the distance. Short can. Stewie is outta shape and can't run the pace. Short is in shape and runs the pace. Stewie needs to get back to training and maybe make it next year. Team is picked. Live with it.

Personally, I go for the 5th of JDs and see how I go from there first. When I burned myself and was in intensive care for 6 months I was pretty much strung out on morphine while in a coma for the first part and then on a reducing dose for the remainder. Stuff made me all edgy and killed my senses - I hated it and always pleaded with the docs to provide something else.

Went and did some fishing today with LC today and for the 2nd time in a row I brought up more fish then he did. :-D There was a situation that made me laugh my butt off while were duking it out for top honors. I brought up this Mackarel and bragged to LC how much bigger it was than anything he caught...I told him to get a hold of it so we could measure it but while we were getting things set this mackerel falls off the hook and lawndarts its way to the concrete! I told Lenny that mackarel did a JS7 and crashed to the ground...Lenny practically jumped off the pier! I had to grab his pant leg to keep him from getting wet! :-D :-D :-D

my little son can catch bigger fish than you, that's sad. need any help just give me a call

Your post right now shows me you really are not such an upstanding Christian man the way you portray yourself here and at Lenny's site. You definately have more problems than what I thought...but I am not surprised at all at this! :-D :P

Press release from Youthstream ....

LIEROP (THE NETHERLANDS), 4 September 2010 – One of the icons of the FIM Motocross World Championship, Joshua Coppins announced today during a press conference at the Grand Prix of Benelux that he will put an end to his 17 year long Grand Prix career at the end of the 2010 season, which will include also the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations by the end of the month in the USA. The New Zealander has taken no World Titles but won a total of 11 Grand Prix’s in the MX1 class.

Having ridden for Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha, Coppins faced a new challenge in 2010 when he joined the Aprilia Racing squad to steer the Italian twin cylinder bike. The 33 year old is currently placed in 11th position in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

In this occasion Coppins was handed a commemorative plate by Youthstream’s President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo and a special canvas with pictures of the New Zealander’s best moments of his Yamaha career by Yamaha Europe.

COPPINS’ CAREER IN THE FIM MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

A young Coppins raced his maiden Grand Prix in Australia, next to his home country New Zealand where he had shown to be one of the most promising riders in the National field. It was 1993 when Coppins and his Suzuki 125cc machine lined up for the Australian Grand Prix in Manjimup.

His first full season in the FIM Motocross World Championship was in 1995. Onboard a Suzuki, Coppins finished the 250cc Championship in 41st place after scoring just two points-one at the first GP and one at the last GP.

The following year Coppins improved on his results to take an eventual 23rd place but as he puts it, Coppins was still “surviving Europe” in his first years alone in the continent.

Still on Suzuki, in 1997 and 1998 Coppins came closer to the top ten, finishing 17th and 13th respectively. The latter year was the one of Coppins’ breakthrough, with the Kiwi gaining skills, experience and especially confidence.

1999 was a special year for Coppins, who finished seventh in the World and turned a few heads around. Despite riding for a private team, he had beaten the factory Suzuki riders and after many years as privateer, the Factory Suzuki Team noticed him and offered him a ride for the following year. Coppins’ dream was coming true as he accepted the offer and lined up even stronger in the year 2000.

Coppins stormed into the top five of the 2000 Championship onboard a works Suzuki. He took an eventual fourth place in the Championship and collected a good bunch of podium finishes at his first year as factory rider.

In 2001 Coppins and Suzuki were going for the World Title but it was the other Factory Suzuki rider Mickael Pichon who took the number one plate eventually. Coppins instead marked his last season on Suzuki with a sixth place in the Championship. Missing out on his maiden Grand Prix victory was tough to accept for Coppins, therefore the Kiwi moved elsewhere to seek new motivation and success.

Coppins moved into Corrado Maddii’s Honda squad, managed by the Vice World Champion himself, in 2002. According to Coppins’ opinion, that was the year he changed from a good rider to a top rider. Coppins was often on the podium and took a valuable second place in the Championship behind eventual Champion Pichon – a living legend in Motocross. 2002 also marked the meeting in between Coppins and his long time mechanic Fabio Santoni of Italy, who would follow him until 2009.

2003 formed a new association in the FIM Motocross World Championship with Coppins joining the CAS Honda Team. Their first season ended with a bitter 12th place because Coppins was out for most of the season due to an injury he picked up while racing in America during the off season-he broke both legs and his back. 2004 and the arrival of the MX1 class would see a stronger Coppins though.

In a season dominated by Everts and Pichon –respectively first and second in the Championship- Coppins worked his way through the field to finish an eventual third and even beating the two in a couple of occasions by winning heats in South Africa and Great Britain, the latter event marking also Coppins maiden GP win. That was Coppins’ rebuilding year and the Kiwi was ready to try again his assault to the World Title.

In 2005 Coppins battled it out for the Title with Everts and fellow New Zealander Townley. Everts took the Title but Coppins was once again second, dominating both the Swedish and South African GP’s and putting pressure on the Belgian throughout the season. Once the Championship ended, Coppins took part in the Motocross of Nations with Team New Zealand finishing a creditable fourth.

2006 was another year holding World Title hopes for Coppins but a shoulder injury before the start of the season ruined the New Zealander’s plans. Coppins could resume racing only at the eighth GP in Matterley Basin, where he was on the podium straight away. Coppins will be remembered for his 2006 season as the only rider capable of stopping eventual Champion Everts’ winning streak by taking the Northern Ireland Grand Prix, Coppins’ best race ever according to his opinion – there have been no other GP winners in 2006 other than Coppins and Everts. Coppins would keep being on the podium until the last GP of the season in Ernee, France, where he took fifth overall. A podium at the Motocross of Nations with Team New Zealand was another consolation for a bittersweet season.

In 2007 Coppins moved into the works Yamaha Team to replace legendary Everts, who had retired in 2006. The New Zealander was the clear favourite for the Title and once the season started he took an impressive series of eight podiums in a row including five wins. Unfortunately, the Czech GP marked Coppins’ hardest moment with a crash damaging his left shoulder at the moment Coppins was leading the Championship by 107 points. From then on Coppins was never able to recover and take back the leadership of the series. He ended a very bitter third with Ramon taking the Title. Looking back at it, Coppins reckons it was a very good year but with a very bitter finale.

2008 was also a tough season for Coppins who struggled against the opposition and could only finish fifth in the Championship. Being still bitterly disappointed from 2007, Coppins had to face also a hard opposition from the younger riders having moved up to MX1 and that was a factor he reckons he was not ready to face back then. Three podiums and one Grand Prix win handed Coppins the renewal with the factory Yamaha Team for the 2009 season.

In 2009 Coppins celebrated his last year with Yamaha. The Kiwi struggled but his fighting spirit made him finish an eventual sixth in the Championship, missing the top five by just 10 points. He won the Bulgarian Grand Prix and added other two podiums to his season’s records.

2010 instead meant a new challenge for Coppins, moving to Aprilia to take the twin cylinder machine of the Italian manufacturer to success. Instead the experience with Aprilia unveiled to be tougher than expected, with Coppins taking the first half of the season to adapt to the bike. Taking a long series of top ten finish, at the day of the announcement of his retirement from GP racing Coppins is placed 11th in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

After this Grand Prix and the last one of the season in Fermo next weekend, Coppins will also race the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations in Denver, USA, on the September 26 weekend.

Before the end of the year, Coppins plans to move down under in New Zealand with his family which he formed while he was in Europe. On Monday an official announcement will explain Coppins’ full plans for 2011 but the Kiwi wishes to remain involved in the sport anyhow

I doubt he will change numbers, he has been 337 along time.

RC was #6 before career numbers were in place. He got #6 because of him winning the '97 125 MX title. Your number was loosely based on your points from the previous season.

Yes I know, thats what I am saying. RC won it on points and I am sure if you figure out Pourcels points this year he would probably deserve 4. So clearly he deserves the number.

DMG you going to be a Pourcels fan now?Last year you were all about Reed. This year it was Dungey. Now your moving on to Pourcels.LOL you remind me of my cousin.Who ever wins the superbowl that year he goes out and gets there hat and is a fan for that year. :-D :-D :P :-D :-D

I think Jlaw proved to us that you can be fast without the backing of a "great team". He has showed up in his own rig and nearly won several times. I think that is a great thing with the stock bikes, is that nearly everyone is on the same playing field. Unlike other forms of racing, Tony Stewart, Kanaan etc would be nothing without the huge costs of parts. However on dirt its strength and determination.

I for one like reed, and will never question his judgement. For one, what he did with coming to the US from austrailia and then europe is a big accomplisment. People will never forget the years him js and rc, for whatever reason, crashing injuries etc, were close in points.

Dungey can go to honda, yami, anywhere, and win, its just like when the yankees win, cashman gets the credit, when all he does is sign checks. at the end of the day, talent and determination is what takes over.

Dungey cant win unless all the top guys are not racing

anyone who really thinks that is in for a big shock

I cant imagine Suzuki letting him go. maybe he just needs another challenge. he got Suzuki to the top..at least in racing, i cant really understand why their bikes dont sell as well as Honda. their bikes are just as good.

Here's my take on why Hondas sell better, and again, this is just my personal opinion...I've ridden and raced Hondas for years, and one of the biggest reasons is reliability. I know, Hondas break to, but they have the reputation of being one of the most reliable bikes out there. Unfortunately for Suzuki, they have a reputation for breaking; remember the side cases a few years ago. If Suzuki wants to be a top seller, they need to address this problem. Just for an example: one of the guys I ride with has a '07 or '08 Suzuki 450 and is on his third motor. In the class I race, (50+ experts) the guy who is leading the points right now is on a '04 Honda 450. I know, there could be many reasons for this, but I think most people would look at this and say "I'd rather buy a Honda". I know that Suzukis handle really well, and the 2010 Suzukis are suppose to be really good, but until they get rid of the reputation for being less reliable, it will be harder to sell them. you are right they used to be garbage, using cheap fastners and what not but my last suzuki (o5 RM 250) was bullet proof. i think they arew going in the right direction.

He wouldn't have pulled out of that deal with the other team if his agent hadn't had a "better" idea to spend what's left of Jlaw's assets.

I think people look too much into his fatigue problems and less into the fact that the 250 class is absolutely stacked. It's hard to come through the pack and win with bad starts

Is Ponch coming back too?

I don't want to look like an "Industry Insider" but there is talk about another movie coming out with Ponch's name having been thrown out there again. So who knows we just might see a beer-bellied Ponch on a new Concourse 1400

Reed if he has kicked all of the monkeys off his back will be a contender.

RV ?? Dirt diver again?? If healthy maybe, I don't think so. He's an also ran.

Bubbles, he will do good in the qualifiers and then maybe podium in the main. It will all depend on how serious he is getting into shape again and then he has to deal with all the other riders that are no longer in "awe" of him and realize the hype was just that.

These are just my opinions and I could be wrong...........

Line selection isnt very important in the sand. The key to going fast in the sand is to get your bike to float on the top and ride the outsides of the track. Going through sand woops you just stand up and wheelie through them, keep your real wheel on the ground and keep you front wheel floating or wheeling, easy.

But I'm the idiot, right?

So what I am saying isnt right?

No it is exactly right. I posted the exact same thing but that means I have never ridden a dirtbike apparently. No excuses for Pourcel,he just choked 1st moto. Wasn't bout the track,he rides good any conditions. And no I'm pretty sure you never ridden a bike.

8:52 Mark champ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAkIT84Tu2w

How did he choke? He just got bad starts and wasn't able to go as fast on the track relative to the comp as usual and what was that video supposed to show me? Looked like a choke to me. Maybe somebody is in his head? But I'm sure some here would say he was just quitting.

8:52 Mark of the video will answer your excuse about Pourcel and lines at Southwick.

Because Dungey said "He had some good lines?" That is your evidence against me? Read DMG's post Yes I read DMG's post on riding sand. And I'm saying Southwick had plenty of line choices. Not everyone was just railing every corner on the outside. Southwick has lost a lot of sand since it's days and it's getting down to hardpack every second moto and real rough. You can argue all you want about that track having no line choices but it was pretty obvious to me everyone wasn't following each other. And that track get's so rough so everyones looking for the smooth lines which weren't really there.

Pourcel is a bad mofo on any track. He can ride all conditions from what I've seen. Just a bad moto, had nothing to do with the track.

Yup, I use my PS3 controller. Download the MotioninJoy drivers, which will let you use your controller through bluetooth.

This is my configuration:

Left stick: leaning
Left stick click: sit down
Right stick: throttle (down)/rear brake (up)
L1: downshift
R1: upshift
L2: clutch
R2: front brake

When you start playing you're gonna have trouble going in a straight line. The counter steering will also piss the shit out of you. Just stick with it for a day or two, and you'll get the hang of it. You'll want to eventually get the stability meter turned down to somewhere around 0-20 (it starts at 100). The lower it gets, the more control you'll have over the bike, but it also becomes more difficult.

Oh, and whoops are a bitch.

Hoax or not, it could happen, and all could take a bit of a lesson from the story.

I passed by an accident once by my house. Saw a teenage girl sitting in a crumpled car on the side of the road, she had hit a tree. She was crying and just sitting there staring ahead at her busted up winshield as emergency crews worked around her. Turns out as I read in the paper a day or two later she was on her cell phone chatting and lost control of her car....her little brother died in the accident.

Funny how Mikes best results come on the tracks with the shortest starts. I hope they send him some parts for the last few rounds. The only thing I do say is that when the time came to develop the bike, Mike basically told the team manager to eat it and got on a plane and went home. I know he was injured, but they did bring him over to work on things.

I'm very much aware that the 125 will not be on a big come back at a National... It's just something different. Our local amateur races on Sundays have many 2 strokes back in the classes. Sounds awesome and the riders are enjoying the qualities that they bring. I must say at HP I was waiting for Brian to come around to where we were sitting. I asked my hubby "where is he"? He said listen..... and I heard that sound. WOW was so sweet. Everyone knew it would be tough for him to get in. Brian his last full amateur year was on the 250 2 stroke. He and Michael Willard battled it out every weekend. Great racing. It was pretty even in the win department. We actually had people wondering what Brian had in his bike, he was so good on it.(he loves racing the 2 Stroke) They couldn't except that his talent was a big part of it. We are just looking for him to qualify. Home track and a tribute to the 125 2 stroke and the memories that it brings. SWEET!

I agree. There should be a way to ban these idiots. Why even play if you're gonna cheat? They do ban,but the hacks are updated weekly to get around the games cheat detection. If you don't ban them by IP then they just go and get a new game and cd-key and come back doing the same thing.

Was sweet last night. Alot of good pros. The 2 best locals Jason Potter and Chris howell were there. Jason qualified for several sx mains towards the end and is getting better and better. Then there were Ryan Abrigo and Cole Siebler. They were fast but Potter was just as fast. Potter smoked both of them and pulled away in the 250 class (Cole Siebler was on a 250 two stroke in that class and got his but handed to him) Then in the 450s, Potter had nuthin. Abrigo and Siebler pulled away and Siebler won. VERY fast riders. Those 3 are so good. If cole has his stuff together, he could do well in the 450 class. Same with Abigo. Usually Tiger Lacey and Jake anstett are there but not this year..

Have any of you seen Children of a metal God? Theres a sceen where a guy named Jimmy LaMastus is railing a giant berm. About the sickest thing to ever see. Well, he lives in Coeur d alene and was out there racing. Big husky dude and flying still haha. I wish I can find that clip online.

The track is called Fossil bowl and it no longer IS. Loon Lake KID ;)

What about Brad, did he not make the show. sheree howell is the real story kid.

Whos shereen howell

Next time you see chris ask him ;)

I remember a while back there was an 804 member on here and then you pop up. 804 was from CDA. Finchfan called you out on it a million times and now your giving me Huge details about all the local Joes here in Coeur d alene.....................

I live far away from Idaho, it doesn't take an expert to know about PRO riders and where they are from. Does loon Lake mean anything and is it in Idaho, didn't think so

I dont know, How would you know these pros (who are barely Pros) and chris howells, sister? You knew fossil bowl (middle of no where)

I looked up the movie you quoted, try it it will amaze you. I also found out in that movie there was a kid that had a leg amputated and was still riding a bike, have you seen the movie. If you knew it was chris howells sisster why did you ask. i remember years ago she crashed and was in a coma but i heard about it a LL's. She was suppose to be the best girl that ever put a leg over a bike, that's all. Now go check your GIRLS email maybe one day you will have your own :-D get a job kid

Listen Vampire, I know your 804. Stop with all your stupid jokes. Nobody likes them, NOR YOU!

Easy big guy. You seem to be getting real worked up.

Meh - how about talking how Cairoli won the MX1 title on one of those crappy 350's?

I never said they were crappy, I thought Mike was under powered. He's a
great starter and it's not happening on the 350 (WHY?) The gp tracks are different from US tracks, US tracks are faster!

Any chance we can get sFinchy up there?

Are you kidding me? finchy is a professional high diver. That dude would climb to the top and do about 10 back-flips then break into 7 front somersaults and then finish it with his signature cannonball all the while holding up the victory sign with both hands just before he splashes down. B)

Too bad. I was hoping sFinchy would hit the pavement. Though his posts sound like he already did. :-O :-D :-D :-D

I talked to Goerke two weeks ago and he will be back this weekend.
Ashley Fiolek was out at the track this weekend, looookiiinggg good .

In short, this is funny,
Tony Alessi called the owner of the local track (big sand sections in the track like southwick) and asked that he let Mike ride during the week last week and he told them, I am open on saturday and sunday if you want to ride. :-D I think that was stupid but I don't own the track.

Not sure. I think James has had "many wake up calls" which he may not have quite awakened to. But based on what I've seen I think he has quite a few more years in him (if he rides smart). And I think he genuinely wants to race.

Reed on the other hand I don't know about. I think he may just be over it. Something tells me we'll see him at A1 but it won't surprise me if he retires before that race.

I pretty much agree...although it's all speculation, of course. I think James will regroup and be back strong at A1...although I don't think he'll dominate like he has in the past. He still has youth and ego on his side, and I think he'll give it another year or two at least. The competition has definately (at least Dungey) gotten up to "Bubba Speed"...so he'll either step it up, or become another "former champion".

Is it just me, or does Chad just not look like he's having a good time any more? I know he's sick and that's probably a lot of it...but he has a family now, and added responsibilities. He sure ain't broke...and is still young enough to do something totally different and be successful at it. I wouldn't be shocked if he announced his retirement though.

Personally, I'd love to see them both at A1 in top form!

I don't care what it's called, wether it's called a vacation or leave of absence or it's referred to as a pilgrimage. The point is that he wasn't on his bike.

And with a broken wrist, I would expect him to be able to run and workout the rest of his body after a couple of weeks.
But hey, that's just what I would do.
Well that was the whole conversation. That running in your little tight biker shorts doesn't prepare you for the actual race. I'm sure James trained alot. Nobody suggested James was out of shape, they said he wasn't in 100% race shape. Which most agreed that it would take him a few races. Out of shape, and not in race shape are two totally different things IMO. Do you expect him to be in race shape, if he's not actually racing?

It's a free country, he can waste the time, and then come back like he did last week if that's what he wants to do.
Agreed.
He looked totally worn out after the first moto. I take that to mean that he wasn't training hard enough while he was off the bike.

I can understand not being in race shape, but he seemed to be a long ways from in shape.

You may disagree. I'm going to call them how I see them.

Hopefully he'll watch Rocky III a few times and come back in January focused and unstoppable. :)

Is this a double standard for Poto fans?

Don't know why they picked Ferris. Nothing against him, he had an awesome year and was in the championship hunt, but raced opens. I just think we should have sent maybe someone else as the lites rider. Moss was the fastest lites rider when he left this year.

because they can get a geico bike for ferris. well thats the reason i heard anyway.

Money isn't really a silly excuse though. It's generally even a first concern for people who can afford things. DesNations isn't that big in reguards to the world wide stage of sports, so teams sometimes drop out at the first given good excuse when their dollar (or effort) sees little return. With them having a disappointing 2008 and 2009 (finished 9th), the old money excuse provides a hideout to not compete, becuase you would have to assume that they have a bad taste in their mouths from thost last two years and really just kinda said, "is it worth it"....No (to them anyways). It does suck though, especially for Tyler.

Yes, I'm one of those guys that takes a lot of pride in our country and MXDN team, no matter who is on it. For a rider to do something like that is a blatant slap in the face for those who feel the same way as I do about the MXDN. And yes, I feel the same way about Osborne. He should never again be considered for team USA.

How are you guys training for endurance?

A few months ago I said I was serious about getting into killer shape for MX. I've dropped 11 pounds (down to 156), been running as often as I can, and hitting the weights a bit as well.

I'm not training as hard or for as long as I'd like yet, but I'm moving towards the goal, and I'm very serious.

So, this morning I went mountain biking with some friends. It had been 6 or 8 months, and wouldn't you know it, they picked the steepest, nastiest, evil place to ride you can imagine! It was practically straight up, and it almost killed me! (coming down was great though).

I felt like a chain smoker in his 90's.
It seems that the running did nothing to help my endurance on a bike.

I'm not running that fast at this point (8:15 mile pace for 3 miles) but I expected to do better.

I'm now considering switching the majority of my cardio program to mountain biking.

I may or may not be the fastest racer on the planet but I certainly want to be in killer shape, with killer endurance.

So, the the question is:
How are you training for endurance?

(I believe RussS recommended a book to somone on this topic)

Not ot stray to far off topic here but Windham is going down for a couple rounds as well. Big props to ASX seems to be bringing it along nicely. How long before Speed or some other broadcaster gets on board to show those races over here. I'd miss some sleep to watch.

Thanks J-Man. B)

I caught one on Speed a couple of weeks ago. Me and the bot were hangin' out while my wife was out to eat with her sister and he said he wanted to watch a SX race. I patiently (well, maybe not quite since we go through this every week abut SX being over!) explained that there were no SX races on. He insisted that I check and lo and behold an ASX race was on. Got to see hometown boy PJ Larsen race. First time I've been able to watch him since he turned pro. Haven't seen one on since then, though.

Honda is getting serious about the MX GPs again and have made Ben Townley a firm offer to race for them next year.

Paolo Martin said in Brazil today: "I can confirm that Honda have made a direct offer to Ben to race the MX1 GPs in 2011. He has 15 days to decide whether or not to accept the offer."
The Italian team owner also admitted that Jimmy Albertson has been released from his contract at the end of the season.

The American was unsure of his future plans: "I'm not sure. Maybe I go home but I'm looking to see if I can get a ride on one of the other GP teams."

Hes about ready to start racing pro too. She said theres just no way that it could be the bike thats giving him this much grief.

What do you guys think.

You tell her to get back in the kitchen and bake somthing.Woman have no business talking about motocroos bikes or motocross. That KTM is a piece of shit.If it was not Aleassi would be up front.

mikes bike might be a piece, but only because he dont know how to set it up, and plus when you watch him ride, he looks like he dont even want to be out there. he dont look aggressive at all, and he's always looking behind him, never focusing forward!
i have a 350 as well, and it is a totally awesome bike! it dont have the low end grunt like my 450, but thats the only noticable difference. the 350 is way easier to corner with do to be lighter. i bet my lap times on the 350 were just as fast, if not a little faster than the 450. keep in mind, last sunday was my first time on the 350, still all stock, 450 has suspension work done! i'll have to do a real lap comparison this sunday at redbud's open practice.

So because your prpduction bike is good for you, Mike's bike should be good. Hmm ok.

it should be! he's got all the resources that i dont! i'm sure the motor in his rips, and i'm sure he's got way better suspension then my production 350 has. so whats his excuse for getting beat by privateers that dont have all the nice equipment? my guess would have to be him, can't see it being all the bikes fault like everyone claims it to be!

Absolutely.. Besides Dowd, who looked very ready at Unadilla in the 2 stroke invitational, Watch for NESC local Robby Marshall (Not the FMX rider)He was 3rd in the first 450 moto last year before a late crash on the last lap put him back a couple of positions. He ended up 5th overall for the day with 5/7 finishes.

I am hoping Dowd and Robbie Marshall can get one moto in the top 5. I would also like to see Decotis run up in the top 5 in the 250 class. I know its big aspirations, but I am rooting for the local boys.

All 3 time champions with quite a spread beteeen them.
The first 125 champion was Marty Smith who was 1974/75 and rode a few more seasons on the 125 too. Pretty sure Broc and Mark both rode more seasons than those they won titles.

Hmmm, guess I was just basing this on guys like Reed and RC 1-2 years in the class. Didn't realize there were so many riders even before them who stayed in the 250s for so long.

Still, isn't 4-5 in the tiddler class something of a waste of time?
rc stayed on the 125 for 3 yrs in mx, he only moved to the 250 for sx in 99, n reed was already an open class rider in aus then europe before he had to step down to the lites to start his us career, hence only 1 yr on the lights.

In case your wondering, the Petition is still going strong. It has let up since the racing has started back, but It is still around 1890. The number is important, in fact, I am going to send a follow up reply when it reaches 2000 just to keep it on the front burner. What if feel is more important than the numbers are the comments. I made it a point to reach each and every comment. I feel very appreciative of those who left comments, and I will try and consolidate these when I make a follow up with the AMA. I didn't make a category for all the comments (Most of them were BRAAAAP B) ) so I divided them into the most common ones:

Number of Comments - 629 out of 1890 signatures
Two Strokes and Rule Change Good for the Sport - 114 or 18%
Cheaper to Maintain and more Economical - 163 or 26%
Equal Displacements - 68 or 11%
Less Sound Problems - 14 or 2%
Displacement of 200 and 400 for 2-strokes - 7 or 1%
Displacement of 175 and 350 for 2-strokes - 9 or 1%
Rule Change would benefit privateers - 36 or 6%
Would provide an Option for racers - 20 or 3%

That totals out to 431 replies out of 629, so 198 replies did not fall into these categories. I wish I could get all these replies in front of the AMA. I was very encouraged and determined after reading them.

I will keep you posted on the progress. Thanks for all the help.

He looks as if he he thinks it's a 250 the way he tries to throw it around everywhere. I personally don't know the deal on why he tries to scrub everything instead of just taking it as a normal jump. That scrubbing sure hasn't gotten him the results that one might feel he should have. I like Barcia's riding a lot but don't get all the energy wasting he does.

I guess at Southwick when he goes a minimum of 2-2 you won't have much to say.

What happened to the "come back and destroy everyone" mantra?

At Unadilla, Moto 1 was probably an accurate protrayal of where he stands right now. Moto 2 was more about his head and his heart than fitness, abilty or bike setup. I don't think anyone oubts how fast the dude can be, and is right now. I mean, he finished third after not racing since January. That's incredible. But what I - and most others - question about him is his passion for racing, his desire to do whatever it takes to get back on top, his will to win. That stupid TV show ruined a guy that has a very legitimate shot and becoming one of the legends in the sport. One of the guys that I tell my kids "I saw that guy race and it was amazing." He pissed it all away to get drunk with Todd Potter. To be a TV star. Point being, before you predict 2-2 at Southwick, make sure he has enough to "gain" by even showing up at the gate.

Where are you pulling all of this? You don't think James still wants to win? If you really believe everything you see on his stupid "reality" show, then I don't know what to think...

Where am I pulling this? Dude, he QUIT a race because he wasn't up front and then wouldn't talk to anyone. He QUIT. I can't remember a top guy EVER quitting a moto because he didn't get a good start and couldn't manage to make his way through the pack. Riders with the heart of a champion don't quit. They do what Blake Wharton did in the 2nd 250 moto and race their a$$es off to get back up front. BW was in the back of the pack and rode his way to a top 10. JS pulled off the track. NO heart, NO passion, NO desire.

You are basing your whole opinion of the guy because he didn't finish the second moto in his first national in almost two years. His first race in 6 months after being on the bike again for only 5 weeks? Seriously I get that you don't like the guy but let's be rational.

He didn't quit because his wrist wasn't ready. He didn't quit because of fitness. He quit because he was acting like a spiled little brat. If I had ever done something like that, my dad and my uncle would have kicked my a$$ all the way back to the house. And made me man up and face the music about my decision, not release a statement days later. I am being completely rational.

Well it was rational to say he'd come back and destroy the field. I mean look what he did in 08 when he came off the couch and went 24-0. Time off doesnt mean a thing, guys don't lose speed. NOW, it's a completely differnet story. He hasn't raced a national in 2 years whatd you expect? Craziness, i can't keep up...

It's LAME, and even worse it makes the people making wild predictions look even dumber when they go from claiming they're not making excuses to "well, but everybody would be too -IF-"....How about we forget the "IFs" and deal with the facts only for a change? :S

You got to be kidding me. This place has now dropped to the point of "making excuses for making excuses"

:-D :-D :-D

Excuses are like butt holes - everbody has one and they all stink.

Nah, he was the same over here in Europe but to be fair a lot of it is cultural. I'm not being racist or anything but a lot of the French have a certain quirkiness about them. Never watch a french movie, it'll give you a nose bleed. They're just different but Pourcel's a good guy underneath and I guess you have to be arrogrant to win. Dungey's probably just as arrogrant but hides it better, no offence to Ryan or anything. The most easy going French guy in MX was probably Sebastien Tortelli, he's a cool guy.

You probably know him better than I do. And I do have some French friends and there is that arrogance but not as bad as most who haven't even been to Mexico think. It's a cultural thing just like a lot of people think of us Americans around the world. Pourcel's been cool the 4 or 5 times I've talked to him.

I agree about Tortelli. He's probably, along with Pastrana, the nicest top racers I've ever met.

I was always under the impression that contigency was paid to bikes from the current and 1 model year previous.
Contigency money is really paid for one reason - to keep the latest model bikes at the front of the field. No good having a 3 yr old bike winning all the time as punters will not want to buy the latest model.

Thats kinda what i thought as well RussS. I just feel like if you can win on what you got( in my case on what i am trying to get) then if they aren't going to pay for that year they should change their rules to just comepletely 4pigs and no 2stks because until they start making and selling mini 4pigs people like me want feel like we are getting a fair shake. I know the rm250 would only be good for payouts for a short time but it still doesn't seem right to exclude it. I am with you Motobro as soon as the wifey gets home we are going to talk.

Good luck with it!

Thanks Moto. Since D'andre is already killing 4pigs on his RM125, I think I will get the 250 for myself since he inherited my 125 and when he goes up to c class next year he can inherit the 250 then. I miss riding so much and my Dr650 just is not practical at all for a mx track.

Cairoli has had several run ins with him and they don't get along. As I said he's a good rider and I'm not saying he's a bad person in any way, but he's also not afraid to run it in "Barcia style" either.

I'm sure Ridger has an eye on him though. He treated him like a proper member of the team all race day long and I wouldn't be that surprised if they opened secret talks about his future in America. I mean he's there and life is short, so why not.

and let me explain what the problem is with James just pulling off in moto two.

Didn't he say he was riding "for the fans"? Guess not.

And that same bike setup that was causing him problems, kept him in the top three in moto one, this after months of inactivity.

James was getting a good amount of cheers moto one, hell I clapped I was glad to see another rider make it out there to compete, but all I heard the rest of the afternoon from his fans was...."where did he go, why did he just pull off the track?".

Old and young fans alike were extremely dissapointed.

Another thing I find laughable about the sensitive fans on here, not wanting to hear from those who don't like another rider. This is a sport, fans, much like other sports, have their favorites, and those they don't like. Their reasons are their own, if you want to misconstrue it into something more malicious then just not liking how the rider races or carries himself, that is your problem. Think about how things would be on a board that combined Eagles fans with Cowboys fans for example. Well here you have that, fans of rider A, fans of rider B, fans of rider C....etc...

All in one place, of course there will be some dissention.

Very well Said 426Hemi, i couldn't agree more. and i've been in some of the chat rooms/discussions with Cowboys and Eagles fans and believe me nothing that is said about JS or any other rider even compares to some of the stuff that those chat rooms/discussions produce.

Kevin is a rider I would pick every time to represent us, but the fatc is that he seldom races outdoors and is only back to represent his team due to some injuries. To qualify for the MXdN team you should have signed up for the season.

SamIwas - Yup Pourcel beat Dungey a few times ... but Dungey won the title and was always a threat. On the 450s - a totally different scenario and Dungey will have no problems with Pourcel. Right now I am interested in what Pourcel will be riding - in particulas who is supplying it and what level it will be. My understanding is that his contract with PC ends the day after the last national.

Pourcel beat Dungey more than the opposite and this is a one race scenario. That is unless you expect Pourcel's engine to blow up. Mitch will probably help Pourcel out for one race.

The riders were quoted as almost "going Hannah" on it. It was aborted for a reason other than "cost" which meant nothing in the early 80's to Honda.

(footnote: Hannah famously smashed his Factory OW's radiator with a hammer because it handled so poorly - the radiator was mounted on the forks).

I first watched Roger ride a RN73(?) with Ribi forks on - long before he moved to Honda. I think by the time he played with them at Honda both front and rear technology had moved on. He must have thought something about them to continue testing at Honda.

Hey there Russ.
Looking back, I think the Ribi RC Hondas were more of a "statement bike" than anything else.

I mean look at 'em! They blew minds.

Even if they never saw a track, it was going to show the other manufacturers that Honda was hell bent on pushing technology into the freak zone to stay out front as the leader.

Those few years before the production rule were a whirlwind of technology - breathless just remembering it.

Honda had most competitors psyched out before they got to the gate.

Quoting Hannah again, I think he said "the only way anybody could beat the Factory Hondas is if we snuck into the pits and let the air out of their tires."

I'll help, Scrubba will lead a few laps riding over his head because he doesn't know how to ride any other way. He will eventually throw huge yard sale that will end his year.

If RV was out there he would get smoked by Short, let alone Dungey. The guy can't compete without crashing, so how can he even be a top guy? He has yet to even complete a whole 450 series.

Dungey is riding on shear luck, he must have a closet full of four leaf clovers, dude sucks, hge is to nice and its obvious that Jlaw is in his head.

JLaw is a waste. After this year he better start enjoying school because he has no more career.

RC is a horrible person and without roids would have been smoked.

Windham has no heart and only has more main event wins then anyone here.

McGrath is fat and overrated, Scrubba would have smoked him, just ask LC, who as it turns out is a whiney bitch.

Nobody in the industry has ever heard of DMG. According to posers at another site he is a poser himself, there might be some truth there.

Finch is a stalker, but you all knew that.

That is absolutely hilarious! :-D :-D :-D

YZMan...I'm not weak minded. Believing that a guy who has 2 titles is the greatest ever is weak minded . I undertand the guy is really good, but let me break it down for you. Tiger Woods is an awesome golfer - everyone knows that. Until he passes Nicklaus in Major victories he is not the greatest. See how that works? As the Nature Boy once put it: "If you wanna be the man, you gotta beat the man!" JS7, while loaded with talent, has failed to obtain any other type of milestones other than the 2 championships. He is not, at this time, the greatest MXer in history. RC rolled off 7 straight titles . The inability to grasp this simple, baseline concept makes you weak minded.

I never said that he was the greatest ever. But since ur sayin it, then u must b the one who thinks he is. But he is the man to beat right now IMO. And before the knuckle heads start talkin crap. Im not talkin about this current MX series.

Do you know how many times we have seen a post like this in regards to the "Part-Timer" If I had a dime for every time I have seen this statement about JS7 "He is the MAN to beat and I am not talking about this current MX/SX series" I would be a rich man by now. The guy was suppose to be the man to beat this past SX series and what did he get a 20th place. Now he is coming back at the end of this Outdoor series for four meaningless races due to the fact that the Champion for this years Outdoor title has just about been decided and yet again "he is the MAN to beat" It doesn't matter what the heck happens with JS7 these next four races the BIGGER story will be that Dungey will be moving closer to wrapping up a perfect rookie year of racing in the premier class.

STFU! U always have to down play everything

I have been very critical of Bubba during his career, but he needs to go. I am biased because I will be at the race and I want to be entertained. I am spending big$$$$ to be at MXON and I want to be entertained. Short does not provide entertainment(plus he fades).

Anyone remember RC a few years ago comment on Short's "program"? He said he did not "buy into it". I believe RC. Looking fit does not mean being fit. MX3 is the last race of the day and that is when Shorty shows his true colors. We should send RC.

You could sale the bike and buy a 250 smoker for almost the same as what you would sale the 125 ;) Then get the up and down taken care off :P

Rumors have Jake Weimer out for a couple of rounds of the AMA Nationals with (according to rumors) a variety of injuries, but a source close to Weimer indicates that what is actually going on is that he has two burnished discs in his back, and that he is definitely out of Unadilla, but anything beyond that is still up in the air.

This injury comes just as Weimer was beginning to turn his season around with top rides at the last few races, including a third-place moto finish in each of the last two Nationals.

I knew something was wrong with him, he should have been in the mix with CP377 & TC38

I know disc problems are pretty bad but what is a burnished disc. Yeah I"m too damn lazy to google it. :-D

Good reason for sure motobro.

I wonder if people will talk smack about him for taking an injury time out?

Only if he does it in the middle of his conditioning test... :P

Here's my take. I don't think James will be on the Des Nations team unless he goes 1-1, unless they get the okay from Short (if he rides strong at dilla). The reality cameras will be all over James for his instint emotions good or sad. Remember Short rides for Red Bull Honda and believe you me they do have the ability to put pressure for a purpose.

If that isn't the case, I feel for Short. I know James is the fastest rider but it was proven last year we will survive. Remember Short for some reason is very strong there and if the race was somewhere else I would not be sayin this. ;)

Man, 90 more seconds and Sonnen would have won.

Actually, 10 seconds less, and Sonnen would have won.

That was the sickest fight.Chael came in and did exactly what he said he was going to do. That was his win in my book.

That wasn't Chael's win, he got outsmarted and got cought in a triangle with 90 seconds left.

Are you crazy. Silva got lucky. Weathered the storm? He got his @ss handed to him for 4 and a half rounds and happen to get the triangle.

Lucky? Look, a guy with top shelf Jits skills does'nt get lucky. He was working that move trying to slip it in for 2 rounds and he finally snuck it in.
Sonnen was to busy trying to strike him he didn't realize Silva was getting him in high guard. It was'nt luck, it was experience.
I wanted Chael to win, but he did'nt.You have to be impressed with the way Silva survived the pounding he took and was composed enough to pull that.

Do you compete in any fights? I saw on vital that you do MMA training.

I just hope they give Sonnen a rematch soon, he got closer to beating Silva than anyone I've seen.

I have competed but not any more, I am to old and my body Can't recover like it used to. I do still go to the gym and train with them, its agreat workout.
Yea I think they should give Sonnen another shot, but I would bet he won't lose the same way.
