Women's World Motocross Champion Lancelot faces German trio Laier, Papenmeier, Franke on their home soil this weekend

A strong Livia Lancelot, the current Women's World Motocross Champion, and current points leader, heads the the FIM Women’s World Motocross Championship Grand Prix coming into Teutschenthal, Germany, for round five for the 2009 Championship.

Racing at home, Stephanie Laier, Larissa Papenmeier and Maria Franke, who are currently completing the top four in the Championship, look forward to the weekend as they will try to chip away at the points gap that separates them from Lancelot.

Winning in France, Lancelot made sure to come to Teutschenthal with a stronger Championship lead over runner up Laier, who had won the previous round in Spain. The top four riders are only 46 points apart, which for an exciting final three rounds.

Currently runner up to Lancelot in the point standings, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Laier was the overall winner in last year in Teutschenthal.

Another German rider (Papenmeier) currently sits in third position in the point standings. The Teka Suzuki rider has been on the podium since round two in Portugal. but was not on the rostrum last year at Teutschenthal, ... the venue where she took her first overall Women's World Motocross win back in the Women’s World Cup in 2007.

Kawasaki Elf rider Maria Franke is fourth in the Championship ahead of E. Mann. South African star Nanda Swiegers will make her 2009 debut in the series this weekend in Germany.
