AMA Racing officials determined today that actions taken by AMA Supercross Lites West Championship Series rider Jason Lawrence at the San Francisco round of the series violated the terms of his existing probationary status, which began on June 12, 2008. Lawrence has therefore been suspended for the next two rounds of the 2009 AMA Supercross Lites West Championship Series.

Specifically, Lawrence was found to have violated Appendix A, section A2.3j, of the AMA Supercross, and FIM World Championship, Rulebook, which states that the following offense is subject to disciplinary action:

"An attack on a Racing official and/or engaging in a fight. This includes any person who attacks or is involved in a fight anywhere on the premises prior to, during, or after an AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship meet. There will be no maximum fine or suspension period for this offense."

It was determined that Lawrence was involved in an incident off the track involving certain Supercross class riders. As a result of that violation, Lawrence has been suspended for the next two rounds of the 2009 AMA Supercross Lites West Championship Series, including the Feb. 7 round in Anaheim CA, and the Feb. 14 round in San Diego, CA.

AMA officials notified Lawrence of the penalty on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Lawrence appealed and presented evidence in his favor at a meeting with AMA Racing officials on Friday, Feb. 6. Following careful consideration of that evidence, Lawrence's appeal was denied.

i agree.parents should be the role model to thier kids.unfortunatley, life isnt that way.todays youth does look up to sports stars as role models.if you are that for your child,i applaude & commend you.that is awesome.i also agree that the different personalities is needed.but what good is someone who is paid to win championships, when they do something to get susspended & cant compete for what they get paid too.j-law has loads of potential & talent.he has 1 championship.how many times has he been suspended?he has no chance to keep his tital this year.that makes him awesome?i hope he stops doing things off the track that gets him suspended.when hes racing or being interviewed, hes good for the sport.he's aggresive on the track,& not afraid to speak his mind.he doesnt do the sport any good when he's suspended.im not a j-law fan.but i do want to see him race.cant win races & championships when he gets in trouble.every sport has the bad apples.the nfl has adam jone & plaxico burress.the mlb has alot of people.like it or not, they are role models.they are famous & in the public eye.they dont do any sport any good when they cant particapate in it.
give it a break parents

Look im twenty one yrs old and been a faithful fan since 1997. even before that but i was to young to really call myself a die hard fan. My dad and I love Jlaw and think his personality is great for this sport. Us supercross fans dont get the credit like football or nascar fans. each sport has its T.O. or Tony Stewarts. I believe if we had just a couple more jlaw then more ppl would get involved. SO i hope jlaw racing 450's at atlanta this weekend bc im going to be there rooting him on with chad reed of course. so parents talking about role models then watch golf and quit complaining all the time. Supercross fans are hardcore. RIP jeremy lusk

Peace Will L.

i agree 100% that we need more riders like j-law.ive been a fan since the late 70's.watchin all the bad boys of the time, thru the 80's & 90's up til now.i know they are good for the sport.but even they didnt have more suspension's than championships.all im saying is that his personality & style does the sport no good when he cant be there because of a suspension.people want to see him on the track & interviews.that is where he is great for the sport.i dont personaly like him,but i know people like him keeps fans watchin.including me.but he has to be there to be seen & heard.being on suspension doesnt help him.even j-law said in transworld motocross if he screws up like he did last year it could hurt his team.im not his fan but he is awesome on the track, fun to watch,& fun to listen to.i just want him to be able to compete.the only complaing IM doing is he does things to get suspended for.
