1:45pm: It's a typical, warm, sunny 'winter' afternoon in southern California - above 80 degrees without a cloud in the sky. The action has already started for today's race, with practice going on right now. The track itself is a little bit dry right now in some places. 2008 AMA Eastern Regional Supercross Champion Trey Canard will not be racing tonight because of the lingering effects of a crash and concussion from last weekend's event in Phoenix. James Stewart, Josh Grant, and Chad Reed have the fastest practice times as of right now.

3:15pm: James Stewart crashes at the end of a practice session. Rumors abound the he has a broken wrist. We go over to the L & M Racing pit area, ask L & M staff members the status of James and his wrist, and everyone responds with either 'No comment' or 'We have no idea'. We'll know shortly about James and his wrist once the pits settle down ...

7:32pm: First 250 moto takes off for the night time program - it's Jake Weimer 19, followed by team-mate Ryan Morais 116 and Daniel Reardon. After six laps, and the checkered flag, its Weimer first, Morais second, Reardon third. Jason Lawrence finishes 11th after falling.

7:45pm: The second 250 West moto takes off ... and at the end of the first lap it's Ryan Sipes 31 on KTM with the lead! On the final lap, Dungey makes a move to get around Sipes - but Sipes takes the win, Dungey second, and Justin Brayton third.

7:59pm: The first 450 heat race takes off ... and it's Mike Alessi wit the holeshot! On the second corner, a right hander, Andrew Short passes Alessi for the lead. It's Short leading, Ryan Villopoto has moved into second, and defending Supercross Champion Chad Reed has moved into third! Alessi is fourth. Then, Reed moves past Villopoto into second on lap five! It's Short, Reed, Villopoto, .... and Alessi a ways back in fourth. Tight battle up front - Short leading, Reed right on his tail, and Villopoto just behind. After a tight right hander on the sixth lap, Reed edges past Short! At the end of eight laps, it's Reed, Short, and Villopoto third! Davi Millsaps works up to fourth, M. Alessi fifth.

8:13pm: James Stewart is racing! The holeshot for 450 heat 2 goes to ... Josh Grant 33! James Stewart is right behind in second! Right after the end of the first lap, Stewart edges past Grant and into the lead! Forget the potentially broken wrist! It's Stewart out front, Grant in second, Kevin Windham 14 in third. Stewart starting to pull out a comfortable lead over Grant, who in turn has a comfortable lead over Windham. At the end of the eight lap heat, it's James Stewart with the victory, Josh Grant finishes second, and Kevin Windham third. Tim Ferry is fourth.

8:28pm: 250 LCQ. Jason Lawrence with the holeshot! At the end of four laps, it's Lawrence with the win, followed by M Sleeter.

9:22pm: The 250 Western Division Supercross 15 lap main event takes off .... and it's Ryan Morais with the lead! At the end of lap two, it's Ryan Morias 116 leading, Ryan Dungey in second. On lap four, down the long main jump filled straight, Dungey goes past Morais and into the lead. Jake Weimer is a ways back in third. Daniel Reardon is fourth. After nine laps, it's Dungey leading, Morais second, Weimer third, and Jason Lawrence has moved up to fourth. At the finish, it's Dungey comfortably out front, Morais second, Weimer third, Lawrence fourth, Chris Blose fifth, Daniel Reardon sixth, and Justin Brayton seventh. Dungey takes the win, and stretches his points lead!

9:50pm: The 450 Supercross Main Event takes off, with Mike Alessi grabbing the lead! Chad Reed goes down in the first corner! At the end of two laps it's: Kevin Windham out front! Josh Grant is second, Ryan Villopoto is third, and James Stewart is fourth! Chad Reed is 13th.

The top three are very close - Windham, Grant, Villopoto, with Stewart just behind in fourth. Reedy is moving up, but still mired in 11th. Stewart is starting to close in on the leaders. Reed is now ninth. The top four (Windham, Grant, Villopoto, Stewart) are bunched together very close. On lap seven, Stewart edges past Villopoto, but the top four are still very close! Reed is in seventh as they complete lap seven. Windham stil holding the lead, but Grant is fending off Stewart, with Villopoto right behind both of them! On the inside of a tight right hander, Stewart squeezes inside of Villopoto! Then goes past Grant! It's now Windham out front, Grant second, Stewart third, Villopoto fourth, with Reed in seventh.

On lap ten, Stewart goes past Windham in a right hand corner for the lead! Stewart out front, Windham second, Villopoto third, and Grant a ways back in fourth. Reed is sixth.

Stewart makes a little bobble after a jump - the top three are still very close - Stewart, Windham, and Villopoto. Chad Reed is running the best lap times, up to fifth place.

Stewart starts to settle out front, Windham in second, Villopoto in third, closing on Windham! Grant is fourth, with Reedy right on his rear tire - five laps to go!

Stewart looks to be in control now, as Reed moves past Grant into fourth. It's Stewart, Windham, Villopoto right on his back, Reed in fourth, Grant in fifth. Reed can now see Villopoto's back - they are battling! On the 18th lap, Reed goes past Villopoto for third! Stewart out front, Windham a ways back in second, Reed is now third, Villopoto fourth, and Grant is fifth.

At the end of the 20 lap main event - James Stewart is the winner! On the last lap, Reed takes over second place from Windham with one corner to go! Reed finishes second behind Stewart. Third is Windham. Fourth is Villopoto, fifth is Josh Grant!

Conclusion: James Stewart is the winner of A2. Chad Reed might of had a season-saving strong ride, coming from a crash in the first corner all the way up to second. And Ryan Dungey looks good in the West Regional Series.

Hi Everyone - thanks for the posts. It was a good race. Stewart was questionable to even race, but came out and won. Reedy crashed in the first corner, but passed everyone to come up to second! And get the points lead. Those two guys seem to be head and shoulders above everyone else right now.
