Chad Reed's Biography

Chad Reed (born in 1982, in Kurri Kurri, Australia) is a multi-time Supercross champion, winning the U.S. AMA 250 Supercross title in 2004 & 2008. He recently won the 2009 AMA 450 National Motocross Championship. He has also won the Australian Supercross Series three times. Chad is married and currently resides in Tampa, Florida.

After winning the Australian Supercross Championship in 2000, Reed went to Europe in 2001 to ride for Jan DeGroot's factory Kawasaki team. Reed was a revelation aboard his KX250, winning the Grand Prix of Lierop and eventually finishing the year second to multi-time World Champion Mickael Pichon.

Eager to move to America and campaign to world's premiere series, Reed picked up a ride with Yamaha of Troy to ride 125 East Coast Supercross and 125 Nationals aboard the four-stroke YZ250F. Reed won all but two Supercrosses that season and earned the East Coast championship. He scored his lone 125cc National victory at Mount Morris PA, and finished the season third behind James Stewart and Branden Jesseman.

Reed moved directly to the 250 class full-time in 2003 with Factory Yamaha. Aboard a YZ250, he won one more race than chief rival Ricky Carmichael, but lost the title at the last round to the Honda rider. He finished his first season on the 250cc Nationals third behind Carmichael and Kevin Windham.

In October of 2009, Chad signed with Monster Kawasaki.

Chad Reed in 2009

Chad's done a lot of testing on the Suzuki. I think he's riding aggressively, yet smartly as well - he knows it's a long season. Plus he's really matured as a person.

You rode hard, put on the pressure,..and...Ha!Ha!...Stewart had to get out the feather duster ...AGAIN!!!Way to never give up.You ARE the MAN!!! I don't care what anybody says, that crap that Chisholm pulled in SaltLake City totally ruinedChads focus. He was what,in 16th place and he pulled over and waits,"Even looks over to see them coming",for the leader go by,"James Stewart",then pulls out in front of Reed who is directly behind Stewart.Tries like hell to catch up to Reed. Then,"BLAM",runs right into him.He was aiming right for him.Did'nt even try to turn the corner, but did turn very little when he saw he was a little off his mark.In slow-motion,he hit the brakes about a foot from Reeds back tire.He had plenty of time to slow down.I'm glad I'm not Chad Reed.I would've beat him down with my helmet in the pits after the race.If you don't believe me and you have the race recorded slow-mo from the time he pulls over and watch. You will see what I see....."BULLSH!T"!!! Chad had the ride of his life going, and "THE LOSER CHISHOLM RUINED IT:!!!They were neck to neck, but watch how far Stewart pulled ahead after that "LITTLE" as some people have called it,bump.PAYBACKS ARE A MUTHER F ER!!! Stewart may be good,but.."HE BETTER FEAR CHAD WHEN THEY GO TO VEGAS"!!! First or second,Chad Reed is a REAL CHAMPION!!!

Put crap behind you
written by Nick, May 08, 2009
Hey Reed,

Put all the sh!t you recieved from stewart behind you. I dont know what his dealio is but he's been acting weird, and I have lost respect for him this racing season, and that much more for you. I dont know why Larry Brooks/Stewart are trashing you, and you know that is stuff you might here from a fellow rider but to here that from the guy you brought the title to last year is very dissappointing. Put it all behind you and dont worry what haters have to say your the best and alot of people's hero (mine for sure). Best luck for the future years of your incredible career. smilies/wink.gif

Chad for South Africa
written by Hilton Harper, September 04, 2009
You have proved again to the world that you only have to ride using your brains and not rely on speed and luck to be one of the great riders of the century. We at Rover MX in South Africa congratulate you Chad for sticking it to them. May you show the young riders how it is done for many years to come.
