Hunter Lawrence Dominates High Point as Cole Davies Breaks Through for First Pro Motocross Victory

The 2026 Pro Motocross Championship made its annual Father’s Day stop at High Point Raceway, and the iconic Pennsylvania circuit delivered another memorable day of racing. Under nearly perfect conditions, Honda HRC Progressive’s Hunter Lawrence put together one of his strongest performances of the season, sweeping both 450 motos to earn his second overall victory of the year while tightening the championship battle.

Meanwhile, the 250 class saw a career-defining breakthrough as Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies captured the first Pro Motocross overall win of his young career with an impressive display of speed and consistency.

Hunter Lawrence Takes Control

After qualifying second behind championship leader Jett Lawrence, Hunter wasted little time asserting himself once the gate dropped.

The opening moto featured an early battle between Hunter, Cooper Webb, and Jorge Prado before Hunter established himself out front. As the race settled in, Jett worked his way through the field after a mid-pack start, eventually climbing into second. Despite his younger brother’s charge, Hunter continued to increase his advantage, crossing the finish line more than 11 seconds ahead to claim his third moto victory of the season.

Moto 2 followed a familiar script.

The Lawrence brothers emerged from the first turn side-by-side, with Hunter narrowly edging Jett for the holeshot before quickly settling into the lead. From there, Hunter methodically built another comfortable gap while Jett focused on defending second from a hard-charging Haiden Deegan, who posted some of the fastest laps of the race during the closing stages.

Hunter never put a wheel wrong, completing the perfect 1-1 sweep and securing his third career premier-class Pro Motocross overall victory.

Championship Fight Tightens

Jett Lawrence’s consistent 2-2 performance earned another runner-up finish and extended his remarkable podium streak, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Hunter from gaining valuable ground in the standings.

With the overall victory, Hunter trimmed the championship deficit to just two points heading into the next round, setting up one of the closest title fights of the outdoor season.

Deegan continued an impressive rookie campaign by finishing fourth in the opening moto before charging to third in Moto 2, earning his second overall podium of the season. The Yamaha rookie now holds a firm grip on third in the championship and continues to close the gap to the Lawrence brothers with each passing weekend.

Cole Davies Earns First Outdoor Win

The 250 class belonged to New Zealand’s Cole Davies, who delivered the breakout performance many had been waiting for.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider showcased race-winning speed throughout the afternoon, capturing his first career Pro Motocross overall victory with a dominant performance that further establishes him as one of the sport’s brightest young stars.

Already a championship contender, Davies’ breakthrough win adds another serious threat to an increasingly competitive 250 class as the outdoor season reaches full momentum.

Looking Ahead

Four rounds into the Pro Motocross Championship, the battle for both championships continues to intensify.

Hunter Lawrence has firmly reinserted himself into the title conversation after matching Jett’s second overall victory of the season, while Haiden Deegan continues to make steady progress in his rookie 450 campaign.

In the 250 division, Cole Davies’ breakthrough victory signals that the championship fight is far from settled, with momentum now firmly on the side of the young Yamaha standout.

As the series heads to Southwick next weekend, the championship battles in both classes appear closer than ever.
