Jett Lawrence Staying Positive Amid Recovery, Eyes Pro Motocross Return
While sidelined due to injury, Jett Lawrence is staying engaged with the sport—and keeping a close eye on the 2026 Supercross season.
In a recent television interview, the reigning SMX World Champion shared that although he misses racing, his recovery is trending in the right direction.
“I’m missing racing a lot, but we’re getting back slowly, bit by bit,” Lawrence said. “It’s been a process, but it’s good.”
Inspired by Hunter Lawrence’s Strong Season
Jett also spoke on watching his brother, Hunter Lawrence, continue to perform at a high level in his absence.
“He’s been riding unreal,” Jett said. “The first couple rounds, when he had those finishes, it kind of lit a fire under me. But once he got that first win, he’s been on it ever since.”
Lawrence credited both his brother’s consistency and the team’s bike development as key factors in his success this season.
“They’ve been making great progress with the bike. Honestly, I’ve been really happy for him.”
450 Class Depth Making Wins Harder Than Ever
When asked about surprises in the 450 class, Lawrence emphasized the depth of talent across the field.
“I think everyone’s riding really, really well,” he explained. “It’s honestly way harder to get a win now.”
He highlighted several top riders currently performing at a high level, including:
- Ken Roczen — “Incredible in tough conditions, barely makes mistakes.”
- Eli Tomac
- Hunter Lawrence
Lawrence also noted that he expected more wins this season from Cooper Webb, whom he considers both a friend and one of the sport’s greats.
“I thought Cooper would have had more wins by now,” he said. “But he’s still riding great.”
Recovery Update: Targeting Pro Motocross Return
Lawrence is currently recovering from an ankle injury involving the talus bone—a notoriously difficult injury due to limited blood flow.
“I would say we’re still on target,” he said regarding a return for the opening round of Pro Motocross. “But it’s a slow process. The talus doesn’t get a lot of blood flow, so we’re just taking it week by week.”
Without prior experience recovering from this specific injury, Lawrence is relying on patience and careful progression.
“You just don’t know exactly how it’s going to respond, so we’re being smart with it.”
Still Connected to the Action
Even while recovering, Lawrence remains close to the sport, even stepping into a broadcast role during the event.
While he joked about needing to “work on his English,” his presence continues to bring energy and insight to fans—and reinforces just how much the sport misses him on the track.
What It Means
Jett Lawrence’s absence has opened the door for one of the most competitive 450 seasons in recent memory. But if his recovery stays on track, a return at the start of Pro Motocross could quickly shift the balance once again.
For now, the reigning champion is watching, learning, and preparing for his comeback.
