Jett Lawrence Reclaims the Red Plate at Southwick as Sacha Coenen Sweeps the Sand
The 2026 Pro Motocross Championship continued with Round 6 of the season at the legendary Southwick National, where deep sand, brutal conditions, and late-race drama delivered one of the most memorable races of the summer. When the dust settled, Honda HRC Progressive's Jett Lawrence (#18) emerged victorious in the 450 Class and reclaimed the championship lead, while Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Sacha Coenen dominated the 250 Class with a perfect 1-1 sweep.
450 Class
Southwick's demanding sand track once again proved to be one of the toughest tests on the Pro Motocross schedule, and the battle between the Lawrence brothers took center stage throughout the day.
Hunter Lawrence opened the afternoon by capturing the Moto 1 victory after an impressive ride through the challenging conditions. Jett Lawrence remained close throughout the race and secured valuable championship points with a second-place finish, while Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rookie Haiden Deegan (#38) completed the moto podium in third.
In Moto 2, the momentum shifted dramatically. Hunter once again found himself at the front of the field and appeared poised to sweep the day, but a late-race mistake while leading opened the door for his younger brother. Jett capitalized on the opportunity, taking over the top spot and charging to the moto win.
The 2-1 scorecard was enough to secure Jett Lawrence's overall victory and his 27th career Pro Motocross win. Hunter's 1-4 finishes earned him second overall, while Deegan continued his impressive rookie 450 campaign with consistent 3-2 moto scores to finish third overall.
Jett's victory also reshuffled the championship standings, allowing him to reclaim the coveted red plate and move into the points lead by a single point over Hunter heading into the next round.

250 Class
The 250 Class belonged to Sacha Coenen from the moment the gate dropped.
The Belgian KTM rider showcased elite speed throughout the day, beginning with a dominant Moto 1 performance that saw him pull away from the field and establish a commanding margin of victory.
Moto 2 appeared to be more of the same until disaster nearly struck late in the race. While comfortably leading, Coenen suffered a dramatic crash that allowed the competition to close the gap. Despite the mistake, he quickly remounted, maintained control of the race, and crossed the finish line first to complete a perfect 1-1 sweep.
The overall victory marked one of the strongest performances of Coenen's young professional career and further established him as one of the sport's rising stars.
Behind him, Kawasaki rider Levi Kitchen finished second overall with consistent 2-4 moto scores, while Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Cole Davies (#100) claimed third overall. Davies' podium finish was enough to leave Southwick with the 250 Class red plate and a narrow championship lead heading into Spring Creek.
