Eli Tomac has officially announced that he will retire from professional Supercross and motocross competition at the conclusion of the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs, bringing one of the most decorated careers in the history of the sport to a close.

The 33-year-old Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider shared the news himself in a personal video posted to social media, reflecting on a professional racing career that has stretched from his unforgettable debut in 2010 all the way through the 2026 season.

An All-Time Great

There is no need to exaggerate Eli Tomac's place in the sport. The numbers already do the talking.

Tomac enters the final three races of his professional career ranked second all-time in premier-class Supercross Main Event victories with 57 wins. Outdoors, he amassed 32 premier-class Pro Motocross overall victories while collecting championships across both the 250 and 450 divisions.

He won on different motorcycles, for different teams, across different eras of competition — and remained a threat to win long after many of the riders he began his career alongside had already stepped away.

Maybe that is what makes this announcement hit differently.

Tomac isn't walking away years removed from the front of the field. He was still winning Supercross races in 2026.

His first season aboard the Red Bull KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition included four 450SX Main Event victories — Anaheim 1, San Diego, Seattle and Daytona — proving again that even this deep into his career, ET3 could still line up against the best riders on the planet and win.

Daytona was especially fitting. Tomac's victory there in 2026 extended his incredible record at one of the sport's most iconic races to eight career wins.

When Eli Tomac was on, everybody watching knew it.

There were nights when the No. 3 seemed to find another level — carrying speed through sections that nobody else could match, erasing gaps and turning what looked like another rider's race into an inevitable Tomac charge.

Fans eventually gave that version of Eli a name: Beast Mode.

From Hangtown to Legend

Tomac's professional career began in almost unbelievable fashion.

In 2010, he entered his first professional race at the Hangtown Pro Motocross season opener — and won the 250 overall.

What followed was a 17-season run through American motocross and Supercross that included championships, historic win totals, comeback rides, dominant performances and some of the loudest crowd reactions of the modern era.

He raced for GEICO Honda. He became a premier-class champion with Monster Energy Kawasaki. He added another chapter with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. And in his final season, he joined Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and immediately put the bike on top of the podium.

Professional Races Remain

Tomac will line up for all three rounds of the 2026 SMX Playoffs before officially stepping away from professional racing. His final scheduled gate drop comes at the SMX World Championship Final in Ridgedale, Missouri, on September 26.

This Changes the SMX Playoffs

The upcoming SMX postseason was already going to be one of the biggest stretches of racing on the calendar.

Now it becomes something else entirely.

Every rider introduction could be Tomac's last at that venue. Every heat race is one fewer remaining. Every pass matters a little more. Every checkered flag moves the sport one race closer to the end of the ET3 era.

And if his career has taught us anything, don't expect Eli Tomac to spend those final three races simply taking a victory lap.
