Corrections & Updates Policy
When the facts change, the record should be clear.
Accuracy includes correcting the record when information is wrong and showing readers when important information has changed.
Report an error
Email dodge@supercross.com with the page URL, the specific statement or record in question, and a source or explanation supporting your concern. We assess the evidence rather than the number of requests received.
How we review a request
The Editorial Lead is responsible for the editorial review process. The review considers the original material, the available evidence and any relevant official record. Where necessary, we seek clarification from the source or affected party. Incomplete evidence should not lead us to replace one unsupported claim with another.
Substantive factual corrections
A correction fixes a substantive factual error in our work. We update the affected content and add a dated correction note explaining what was wrong and what has been corrected. The note should be easy to find on the affected page.
Significant updates
An update adds significant information that became available after publication or records a change made by the responsible official source. A dated update note may explain the change where useful to readers.
An official scoring revision, penalty or administrative decision may change a result after a race. We check the revised official source. Results and championship standings remain separate records: a change to one does not authorize an assumed change to the other.
Minor edits and publication dates
Minor spelling, formatting and non-substantive copy edits do not require a formal correction notice. They must not make an old article appear newly reported.
Accurate historical publication dates are preserved. Where a substantive change warrants an updated date, it should be distinguished from the original publication date.
Removal and archival material
We generally prefer an accurate, explained correction to erasing the historical record. Removal requests are considered individually, including rights, privacy, safety and legal concerns. Where material is withdrawn, an explanatory notice may be appropriate. Disagreement with a fair factual account is not, by itself, a reason to remove it.
