Eli Tomac: A Legend. Always

Eli Tomac never did anything quietly.

For 17 seasons, “ET3” raced like every lap owed him something — elbows out, throttle pinned, fastest when it mattered most. On August 31, 2026, Tomac announced his retirement from professional racing, closing a career that puts him among the greatest to ever do it.

The numbers tell part of the story. Tomac turned pro in 2010, winning the 250SX West title in 2012 and the 250MX crown in 2013. His 450 career ran through three factory teams: Kawasaki, where he won three straight 450MX championships (2017–2019) and his first 450SX title (2020); Yamaha Star Racing, where he swept both 450 titles in 2022; and Red Bull KTM, where in 2026 he added four more 450SX main-event victories — including a record eighth Daytona Supercross win.

He retires second on the all-time 450SX wins list with 57.

But Tomac’s legacy was never just arithmetic. It was the intensity — the mid-race charges, the Daytona mastery, the refusal to concede a position. It was 17 seasons of showing up as the fastest man in the building on any given Saturday night.

The 2026 SMX World Championship Final at Thunder Ridge marked the end of the line — Tomac’s final professional race, closing the book on a career that spanned three manufacturers, six 450-class championships, and a generation of fans who never once saw him cruise.
