A new generation of motocross machinery is on the way.

KTM and Husqvarna Mobility officially introduced their redesigned 2027 Factory Edition motorcycles on November 3, unveiling significant updates to their championship-inspired 250 and 450 four-stroke platforms.

The announcements include the KTM 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F Factory Editions, alongside Husqvarna's FC 250 and FC 450 Factory Editions.

While the brands maintain their distinct identities, both are introducing major engineering developments that could help shape future motocross and Supercross motorcycle platforms.

Among the most notable changes are new chassis designs, revised engine technology and a transition to WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks.

The motorcycles are scheduled to reach authorized U.S. dealerships beginning in December 2026.

KTM Introduces Its Next Generation of Factory Editions

KTM's 2027 Factory Edition lineup represents one of the manufacturer's most substantial motocross platform updates in recent years.

Both the 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F Factory Editions feature redesigned steel frames with updated geometry, revised engine mounting points and changes intended to improve rigidity, agility and rider feedback.

KTM has also introduced a lighter aluminum subframe, revised steering-head construction and new ergonomics.

The updated bodywork creates a slimmer profile with increased rider contact area, while a redesigned seat and footpeg surfaces aim to improve movement and control.

The company says extensive input from its professional racing programs contributed to the development process.

Rather than limiting the changes to graphics and bolt-on racing components, KTM has substantially revised the underlying motorcycles.

The Biggest Suspension Change: WP Spring Forks

One of the most interesting developments is KTM's adoption of new WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks.

KTM's recent production motocross platforms have been closely associated with WP's air-suspension technology.

For these new Factory Editions, the company has moved to a traditional spring-based closed-cartridge design.

The updated suspension package also includes a revised WP XACT rear shock.

According to KTM, the new system was developed to improve front-end feedback, damping consistency and predictability across changing track conditions.

Husqvarna's 2027 Factory Editions are also equipped with the newly developed WP XACT closed-cartridge spring fork, alongside revised rear-suspension linkage.

The change is notable because suspension feel and consistency are major factors in motorcycle setup, particularly in technical Supercross conditions.

However, manufacturer development claims should not be confused with independently established performance advantages.

How the updated suspension compares with previous platforms will become clearer through riding evaluations and racing.

Redesigned 250 Engines Bring Major Changes

The 250-class motorcycles receive particularly significant engine development.

KTM has redesigned the 250 SX-F Factory Edition engine with a new oval throttle body, oval intake ports, top-feed fuel injection and an updated valve train.

The manufacturer lists a 15.5:1 compression ratio and an increased rev limit of 14,500 rpm.

The engine has also been repositioned approximately 2.3 millimeters higher within the chassis as part of the updated packaging.

KTM says the new configuration is intended to increase performance while maintaining manageable power delivery.

Husqvarna's FC 250 Factory Edition also receives an all-new engine design.

Its updates include a revised cylinder head, an oval intake configuration, higher compression and changes to the engine management system.

The manufacturer emphasizes improved power delivery and throttle response alongside greater overall performance.

For both brands, the 250 platform represents a major focus of the 2027 development program.

The 450 Models Receive Chassis and Powertrain Updates

Although the 250 engines receive some of the most extensive changes, the 450 Factory Editions also benefit from the new engineering direction.

KTM's 450 SX-F Factory Edition features revised engine performance, updated electronics and a redesigned exhaust system.

The manufacturer says peak power now arrives at 10,000 rpm, with engine management updates intended to improve how that performance is delivered.

The new electronic control unit processes sensor information more rapidly, supporting revised fueling, ignition and gear-dependent mapping.

Husqvarna's FC 450 Factory Edition similarly receives updates to its chassis, suspension, intake, fuel injection and engine management systems.

Both brands are also emphasizing improved serviceability, with revised component placement and maintenance access.

These changes are intended to create motorcycles that are easier to maintain and more predictable to ride while remaining competitive at the highest levels of motocross.

Factory Racing Components Remain a Major Focus

The new Factory Editions continue to feature premium racing-focused equipment.

KTM's updated motorcycles include components and equipment from suppliers such as Brembo, NEKEN, WP Pro Components, EXCEL and ODI.

Husqvarna's Factory Editions feature equipment including WP Pro Components triple clamps and wheels, Rekluse clutch covers, ProTaper handlebars, ODI grips and Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires.

Both brands also introduce distinctive Factory Edition graphics.

The KTM models retain their recognizable orange racing identity, while Husqvarna has introduced a predominantly white design with dark blue accents.

Although these motorcycles draw heavily on factory racing development, the commercially available Factory Editions should not be described as identical to the fully modified motorcycles used by professional teams.

Race teams can use different components and configurations depending on competition requirements.

How Do the New Bikes Relate to the 2027 Supercross Sound Rules?

The motorcycle launches arrive immediately after the SuperMotocross League announced stricter sound regulations for 2027.

Beginning with Anaheim 1 on January 9, the AMA Supercross Championship will enforce a 109 dB(A) pre-race limit, reduced from the previous 112 dB(A) standard.

Both KTM and Husqvarna have highlighted redesigned exhaust systems and updated engine technology in their new Factory Edition announcements.

Those developments are relevant as manufacturers prepare motorcycles for evolving professional competition requirements.

However, compliance with AMA competition rules depends on the specific motorcycle configuration and official testing.

The launch announcements alone should not be treated as independent proof that every version or race configuration passes the new standard.

The new sound requirements will be another important consideration as manufacturers and teams prepare for 2027.

When Will the 2027 Factory Editions Be Available?

KTM and Husqvarna have announced that their new Factory Edition motorcycles will become available through authorized U.S. dealerships beginning in December 2026.

Availability is expected to vary by model, region and dealership inventory.

Husqvarna describes its Factory Editions as limited-production machines.

Buyers interested in the new models should check with authorized dealers for current allocations, pricing and delivery details.

The announcements do not establish that every model will be immediately available at every dealer.

For fans following professional racing, the new platforms are also an opportunity to see how manufacturer engineering developments progress toward future competition motorcycles.

A New Chapter for KTM and Husqvarna Motocross

The 2027 Factory Edition launches arrive during an important period for both manufacturers.

With new chassis designs, revised suspension technology, updated 250 engines and further developments to their premier-class machines, KTM and Husqvarna are introducing more than a cosmetic refresh.

The motorcycles also provide an early look at the engineering direction behind their next generation of motocross equipment.

For riders, the questions will center on how the new platforms feel on track, how their engines deliver power and how the updated suspension performs in real-world conditions.

For professional racing teams, the focus will be translating development into competitive performance.

And for motocross enthusiasts, the new Factory Editions offer an early opportunity to experience the latest technology from two of the sport's established manufacturers.

The 2027 KTM and Husqvarna Factory Editions are officially here. The next chapter begins when they hit the track.
