Husqvarna has officially revealed its new approach to American Supercross competition for 2027, confirming two independent, manufacturer-supported 250-class teams.

In an announcement dated October 29, Husqvarna Mobility confirmed that AEO Powersports Husqvarna Racing and Toyota Redlands BarX Husqvarna will represent the manufacturer across the upcoming AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross championships.

Both organizations will compete aboard the Husqvarna FC 250, marking a significant shift in the manufacturer's American racing structure following the end of its previous factory SuperMotocross program.

The announcement also provides clarity for several riders whose 2027 plans had previously been confirmed without a finalized motorcycle manufacturer.

Husqvarna Takes a New Approach for 2027

The changes come as Husqvarna restructures its American SuperMotocross involvement.

Rather than operating the same factory racing program that competed under the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna banner, the manufacturer is moving forward with partnerships involving independently operated racing organizations.

AEO Powersports and BarX Racing will lead its 250-class representation.

The two programs will receive support from Husqvarna Mobility while maintaining their own independent team operations.

Husqvarna North America CEO John Hinz explained that the partnerships are intended to strengthen the manufacturer's position in professional racing while providing opportunities for developing competitors.

The announcement also complements Husqvarna's previously confirmed partnership with Team Tedder in the 450 class.

Together, these programs establish the manufacturer's new American SuperMotocross presence as preparations for the 2027 season continue.

AEO Powersports Moves to Husqvarna With Carson Mumford

One of the most notable developments is AEO Powersports making the switch from KTM to Husqvarna machinery.

The organization will enter 2027 as the AEO Powersports Husqvarna Racing Team, with plans for a three-rider program.

Carson Mumford is the first officially confirmed rider.

Mumford previously secured his return to AEO for the upcoming season, but the manufacturer's latest announcement now clarifies that the team will compete aboard Husqvarna FC 250 machinery.

Two AEO riders, including Mumford, are scheduled to compete in the 250SX West Championship, Pro Motocross and the SuperMotocross postseason.

The identity of the additional rider has not yet been announced.

AEO will also expand into the Women's Motocross Championship during the outdoor season.

Team owner and manager Jeremy Scism has expressed enthusiasm about the manufacturer change, emphasizing the opportunity to refresh the organization's identity and build on its recent competitive progress.

For Mumford, remaining with AEO provides continuity despite the change in motorcycle manufacturer.

The next step will be adapting to the Husqvarna platform as the team prepares for Anaheim.

Toyota Redlands BarX Racing Also Joins Husqvarna

The second major addition to Husqvarna's 250 program is Toyota Redlands BarX Racing.

The established development-focused organization will compete as Toyota Redlands BarX Husqvarna for 2027.

BarX plans to field as many as six riders across the full 31-round SuperMotocross season, encompassing Supercross, Pro Motocross and the postseason.

Lux Turner is the first confirmed returning rider.

Turner previously signed a multi-year extension with BarX, and the team's new manufacturer announcement now establishes Husqvarna as its motorcycle partner for 2027.

The remaining roster has not yet been publicly confirmed.

BarX has developed a reputation for supporting both experienced professionals and younger riders as they progress through American motocross and Supercross.

Its move to Husqvarna represents another significant manufacturer change ahead of the upcoming championship.

With an expanded program planned, BarX will have opportunities to compete across multiple divisions while continuing its focus on rider development.

What Happens to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Factory Program?

Husqvarna's new partnership structure follows the discontinuation of its previous American factory SuperMotocross racing operation.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing had been a recognizable presence in the professional paddock, fielding high-profile competitors across the 250 and 450 classes.

Its closure created significant changes in the 2027 rider market, with several former Husqvarna riders pursuing opportunities elsewhere.

However, the end of that program did not mean Husqvarna was abandoning American Supercross.

Instead, the manufacturer has established a revised strategy built around independently operated teams.

The previously announced Team Tedder partnership provides Husqvarna with a 450-class presence, while AEO Powersports and BarX Racing will carry the manufacturer's 250-class efforts.

The result is a different organizational model, but one that keeps Husqvarna represented throughout the American SuperMotocross calendar.

What Does This Mean for the 2027 250SX Championship?

The 2027 250SX season is already shaping up to feature major changes across several racing organizations.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has confirmed its six-rider professional 250 lineup, including the addition of Casey Cochran.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has added Nate Thrasher, while Quad Lock Honda has strengthened its program with Michael Mosiman and Cameron McAdoo.

Husqvarna's partnerships with AEO and BarX add two additional supported organizations to the championship landscape.

For Mumford and Turner, the upcoming season presents an opportunity to build on their established team relationships while transitioning to new machinery.

For Husqvarna, the goal will be translating its manufacturer support into competitive results against the sport's established factory and independent programs.

The full lineups remain incomplete, so the next official rider announcements will be important developments to follow.

Husqvarna Looks Ahead to Anaheim 1

The 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship begins January 9 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

Both AEO Powersports Husqvarna Racing and Toyota Redlands BarX Husqvarna are scheduled to begin their new manufacturer partnerships at the season opener.

With Carson Mumford and Lux Turner already confirmed, attention now turns to the remaining roster announcements and preseason testing.

Although their operations will remain independent, both teams will play important roles in Husqvarna's new American racing program.

Husqvarna's 2027 Supercross structure is taking shape: Team Tedder in the 450 class, with AEO Powersports and BarX Racing supporting its 250-class presence.

The next question is which additional riders will join those programs before Anaheim.
