Hunter Lawrence Sweeps Spring Creek, Retakes 450 Points Lead

Hunter Lawrence is back in control of the 450 championship.
The 2026 Pro Motocross Championship delivered one of its most consequential rounds of the season Saturday at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota, with championship leads changing hands in both classes.
Hunter Lawrence was nearly flawless in the premier class, sweeping both 450 motos to earn his fourth overall victory of the season and move back into possession of the red plate.
Hunter Lawrence Sweeps Spring Creek
Hunter set the tone early and never looked back.
The Honda HRC Progressive rider grabbed the Moto 1 holeshot while chaos unfolded behind him. Haiden Deegan went down in the opening turn and Jorge Prado was forced off track, allowing Hunter and Jett Lawrence to immediately establish themselves at the front.
Hunter steadily stretched his advantage and ultimately took the opening moto by more than 16 seconds over Jett. R.J. Hampshire finished third, while Deegan mounted an impressive charge from the back of the field to salvage fourth.
Moto 2 produced an entirely different battle.
Hunter again grabbed the holeshot, but Jett quickly applied pressure. The brothers separated themselves from the field as Jett searched for a way around his older brother. Eventually, Jett made the pass and began opening a gap.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Jett appeared to have control of the race when a mistake on the face of a jump sent him to the ground. The crash dropped him to fifth and handed the lead back to Hunter.
Hunter took advantage, winning Moto 2 and completing a dominant 1-1 sweep.
The victory gave Hunter his fourth overall win of the 2026 outdoor season and moved him back ahead of Jett in the championship standings.

Deegan Charges to Career-Best 450 Finish
Deegan's afternoon could have unraveled almost immediately.
After hitting the ground in the opening turn of Moto 1, the 450 rookie was forced to work his way through the field. He climbed all the way back to fourth before the checkered flag and followed it with an even stronger second moto.
Deegan moved through the field again in Moto 2 and inherited second when Jett went down, giving him a 4-2 score for second overall.
It marked Deegan's best 450 Pro Motocross overall result to date and strengthened his hold on third in the championship.
Hunter Takes the Red Plate Back From Jett
The Lawrence brothers entered Spring Creek separated by just one point.
By the end of the afternoon, the championship had flipped.
Hunter now leads the 450 standings with 320 points, 10 ahead of Jett at 310. Deegan remains third with 258 points.

Julien Beaumer Breaks Through in a Wild 250 Race
If the 450 class was dramatic, the 250 class was chaos.
Championship contenders Levi Kitchen and Cole Davies were both caught in a first-turn pileup in Moto 1 and restarted deep in the field.
Davies initially began working his way forward, but damage sustained in the crash punctured his fuel tank. His Yamaha eventually ran out of fuel, ending his moto and dealing a major blow to his championship lead.
Kitchen continued charging and recovered to eighth.
At the front, Michael Mosiman appeared poised to take the opening moto before Julien Beaumer closed rapidly in the final laps. Beaumer made the winning move on the final lap to secure the first moto victory of his Pro Motocross career.
The second moto brought even more drama.
Chance Hymas worked his way into the lead and pulled away for his first moto victory of the season. Kitchen recovered from another difficult start to finish second, while Carson Mumford secured third.
Beaumer crossed the line fourth, and his 1-4 scores were enough to secure his first career Pro Motocross overall victory.

Kitchen Reclaims the 250 Championship Lead
Despite everything that happened around him, Kitchen's recovery proved to be one of the most important rides of the afternoon.
Kitchen entered Spring Creek two points behind Davies. His 8-2 performance for third overall, combined with Davies finishing 16th overall after his Moto 1 DNF, produced a massive championship swing.
Kitchen leaves Minnesota with the red plate and 261 points.
Beaumer's victory moved him into second at 237, while Davies dropped from first to third with 236.

Next Stop: Washougal
The championship now heads west for the Washougal National on Saturday, July 25.
Hunter Lawrence will arrive in Washington carrying the 450 red plate with a 10-point advantage over Jett, while Kitchen returns to his hometown race leading the 250 championship by 24 points.
With both title fights reshuffled at Spring Creek, Washougal arrives at a pivotal point in the 2026 Pro Motocross season.
